Trapper
The Gauls' own building. It sets traps that capture attacking troops instead of fighting them, and holds them until they are released or their owner frees them with a successful attack.
Build times at x1 with a level 1 Main Building, which takes 100% of the base time. Click a row to start a range and another to end it.

Levels 1 to 20 cost 177,905 resources and take 64:06:00 at x1, adding 62 population and 38 culture points a day.
Captures enemy troops attacking a Gaul village. x1 capacity progression begins 10 traps at level 1, 22 at level 2, 35 at level 3 and reaches 400 at level 20.
- Each trap costs 35 wood, 30 clay, 10 iron and 20 crop = 95 total resources.
- Higher levels build replacement traps faster. At 1x a level 1 Trapper takes ten minutes a trap, a level 2 nine minutes, a level 3 eight minutes and six seconds.
- Each level cuts the time by a further tenth, so the gain compounds rather than being a flat saving.
- World speed divides the time as it divides everything else: a level 10 Trapper on a 2x world builds one in 1:56.
- Nothing that speeds up troop training speeds up traps - neither Alliance Recruitment nor a Trainer artefact touches them.
- Raids can be trapped while available traps remain. Trapped troops stay imprisoned in the Gaul village but continue consuming crop from their original owner.
- A raid cannot free prisoners. The troop owner or an alliance member must send a normal ATTACK and win to free them by force.
- When prisoners are forcibly freed, the traps that held them are destroyed and must be rebuilt.
- If the Gaul owner voluntarily releases the prisoners, the used traps are automatically repaired.
- Once the first Trapper reaches level 20, additional Trappers can be built. Subsequent Trappers do not need to reach level 20 before another is constructed.
Strategy. Trapper is not only passive defence: higher levels increase both maximum capacity and replacement-production speed, which matters under repeated attacks.
