Horse Drinking Trough
The Romans' own building. It shortens cavalry training, and at higher levels lowers the crop upkeep of some Roman cavalry.
Build times at x1 with a level 1 Main Building, which takes 100% of the base time. Click a row to start a range and another to end it.

The Romans' own cavalry building: every level trains horse a little faster, and three of its levels cut what the heavy cavalry eats.
- Each level takes 1% off cavalry training time, so a level 20 Trough trains at 80% of the usual. It is a flat percentage, unlike the compounding tenth a Stable level gives.
- The upkeep breakpoints are the real prize, and only three levels pay them: 10 for the Equites Legati, 15 for the Equites Imperatoris, 20 for the Equites Caesaris.
- A Caesaris drops from 4 crop to 3 and a Legati from 2 to 1 - a quarter and a half of their upkeep. That is what decides how large a Roman cavalry army a village can actually feed.
- It needs a Stable at 20 and a Rally Point at 10, so it arrives late, in a village already committed to horse.
Strategy. Build it for the crop, not the speed. Twenty levels of training bonus is a fifth off the clock, but one crop off a Caesaris is a permanent discount on every one the village will ever hold - and crop, not time, is what caps a Roman hammer.
